Becoming Catholic (RCIA)

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the educational and spiritual formation program by which those above the age of 13, who are not Catholics, may examine the possibility of becoming Catholic.

The first section is called "inquiry" where the person learns, prays and eventually decides whether they wish to become Catholic. This is followed by a section called the "catechumenate" in which the person more deeply learns about the  faith, prays and discerns more to make the next step that is made on the First Sunday of Lent, by which they enter into the Elect; here, they commit themselves to becoming Catholic upon the celebration of the Easter vigil.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or discerning whether or not to make that commitment, contact Fr. Ussher at the parish office 573-324-5545.
